Just a couple days ago a friend of mine was asking me for recommendations for household budget software since he is just getting a budget set up for the first time. As many of you know I am currently using YNAB and loving it (see my YNAB review ) so that was what I suggested for him and he is getting it set up now. But the downside with YNAB is that it cost $60 and I am well aware that not everyone wants to fork over $60 in order to make a budget when they are probably doing it as a means to SAVE money. So for those people, there are some free options! A while back I wrote about a bunch of free budget spreadsheets or printable budgeting worksheets that you can download. Or you can do what we did for the first 3-4 years of our marriage – use an ING Direct account to budget. I recorded the video below 2 years ago and it shows how we used our ING Direct bank account to create a virtual envelope system of budgeting.
