Movie: Due Date

While we were out of town we watched Due Date , it was a borderline annoying movie for me…but good in the end.  This is a typical tale of a wrong decision played out until its annoying (I always use Changing Lanes here, but Splice is another one of these kinds of movies.) but with a smattering of comedy – Zach Galifianakis (or Ethan Tremblay ) style.  Who else could live with a dog that masturbates?  And who needs 35 minutes to do that to sleep?  I really thought Ethan was REALLY annoying for the first half of the movie, then Robert Downey Jr. ‘s character, Peter Highman , started to be really annoying for not listening to Ethan.  The height of the movie was the Grand Canyon scene with the wallet reveal…I would have been sooo peed. Regardless, Jamie Foxx got a small role as well as Michelle Monaghan (hot) (I last saw her in Eagle Eye ), although the twisted plot appeared to have been a ploy to get you to like Ethan.  I’m still not sure why the Highman’s ended up liking Ethan…but I guess that’s a movie. Deep Thought: What is the best method to make it across the country without a wallet? Likes: The dog, 35 minutes to sleep (kind of reminds me of 7 minute Abs from There’s something about Mary ), flipping a car…while your asleep and staying asleep during and after the crash, Michelle Monaghan (even though she’s only in the movie for like 5 minutes…) Dislikes: A movie with characters that consistently make wrong/poor decisions, annoying people, jerks (Ethan to Peter: “I can’t pick up your bag, you’re not supposed to do that at an Airport”) I’m giving the movie a 5/10, but only because Zach Galifianakis ; Otherwise it would have been a 3/10 for the plot.
