Movie: Sherlock Holmes

The other movie we watched while out of town was… Sherlock Holmes .  Starring Robert Downey Jr. (last saw him the night before in Due Date ) and Jude Law .  It was an OK movie, I’m not the biggest fan of this genre, but its watchable.  It was neat how Sherlock deduced that he could do certain moves to disable a man or end the fight.  The movie was a bit long winded, but since it just appears to be a lengthy character build for a modernized Sherlock Holmes series (How does an actor get wrapped up in two series?).  There wasn’t much crime going on during the movie that needed to be solved and the analysis of the plot came pretty late in the movie, after it was almost apparent.  It would have been more enticing if he solved the mystery sooner…but its a movie.  The chick of the movie was Rachel McAdams (I last saw her in State of Play , a much better movie and role for her)…nothing special here, I’m not a big fan of her, but she did a great job.  I’m also admitting that I did partially fall asleep during the movie, and my wife was fast asleep…I did wake up to see the ending, and I don’t think I missed much while I was out. Deep Thought: Magic is deception, how much of our history was changed due to magic? Likes: Fight analysis playback/thought scenes, old and technical feel to the movie (bad comparison but like Wild Wild West ), Dislikes: Slow movies, watching DVDs on a old CRT TV, the rest of the movie I’ll give the movie a 3/10, not much here for me to like…
