Dog Litter Boxes – What to Consider Before You Buy

Dog Litter Boxes are great and have many benefits but if you don’t choose a box correctly, you could be very disappointed and spend a lot of unnecessary money in the process. Before buying dog litter boxes of any kind, you need to ask yourself 3 important questions. First, are you looking for an indoor or outdoor box? Indoor boxes are very simple. They usually have a plastic tray and some of the better ones have a grate for your dog to stand on. This eliminates the problem of wet paws and tracking through the house. Other litter boxes are designed to be used outside. Some of the nicer ones have grass and an automatic sprinkler and drain system. They are for someone you who might live in an apartment or condo and does not have an easy way to get to grass quickly. Also these boxes, because they require draining, must be used outside only. Secondly, will you be using the box on an ongoing basis or is it just for training purposes only? Some dog owners like to use a dog litter box rather than newspapers on the floor when first training their dog. After they are house broken they won’t use it anymore. Others, because of their lifestyle or hectic work schedule want a litter box to train and continue to use after the training. Lastly, grass or litter? There are advantages to each, but the two draw backs to litter is that you have to purchase it and it can be very messy. Grass (real or synthetic) on the other hand, is easy to maintain and keep clean. There is also the option of finding a litter box that does not require actual litter. Dog litter boxes are great but thinking through the “why” of why you want one is always a smart thing to do “before you buy”. Looking for Dog Litter Boxes?
